Julie White (ALSTON) BA

1974 - 1976

JulieWhiteBorn and educated in Orange, NSW, Julie came to Sydney University and Women’s College in 1974, where she studied for an Arts degree. She later attended the National Institute of Social Work in London, undertaking advanced study in community development.

Julie is currently Manager, Macquarie Bank Foundation. Macquarie has provided support to community programs for more than 30 years, and contributes more than $3 million a year in community grants to about 200 organisations. With more than 25 years experience in both the not-for-profit and corporate sectors, Julie has helped build numerous business community partnerships, based on a detailed understanding of the often competing requirements of the two sectors.

Previously Julie worked as a community social worker in local government in Australia and overseas, established state wide community legal education programs for the NSW Government, established community development and fundraising at Ravenswood School for Girls, was Executive Officer of the Knox Grammar School Foundation, Executive Officer of the City of Sydney Law Society and served on the State Executive of the Save the Children Fund and the Council of Wahroonga Preparatory School. Julie also served on the Women’s College Union Executive for a number of years, and has given her time as a Mentor to current College students.
