The central building of the Women's College was established within the University grounds in 1894.

The heritage-listed structure was designed by Sulman and Power in the Federation Free Classical style with Italianate tower, arched cloisters, and large rooms spilling out onto wide gracious verandahs. "Main" is an appropriate architectural marker of the College's significant place in Australian history.
