Key People: Resident Assistants

The Resident Assistant Program

The Women’s College appoints a dynamic team of thirteen Resident Assistants (RAs) each year. They provide pastoral care and academic support to all students. RAs are students in their senior years of university and having already negotiated the transition to uni and living away from home, they are well-equipped to help out others! Your friendly RA is just a like a big sister down the hall!

Each wing has its own RA who helps students settle into College when they first arrive. They host wing functions, promote College activities such as sport or cultural events (and are enthusiastic participants) and are available for consultation on just about anything from personal to University related matters. The RAs help staff and House Committee with many events and College initiatives and are a point of contact for all students.

RAs also assist with the safety and security of the College and are on call for emergencies after hours. They work with the Senior Resident Assistant, Louise Prowse, to ensure that everyone at College feels at home!

‘It’s such a great opportunity to get to know the girls in the other year groups. It has provided me with a new perspective of College. It’s nice to know that I’m helping girls when they most need it.’ Nhi - RA 2011

‘I love getting to know so many girls in the college and being part of a fantastic team!’ Emily - RA 2011

‘I think the most enjoyable aspect of being an RA is the collegiality with the RA team as well as all of the residents at college.’ Libby - RA 2011
