Information for Undergraduates

At the Women's College, we aim to build a community that is supportive and friendly. The House Committee, the Resident Assistants and the Staff all do their best to make College a comfortable, pleasant place. The House Committee, led by the Senior Student, organises a whole host of exciting activities at College during the semesters. Our formal dinners are exclusive to Women's College residents and feature fantastic speakers and tantalizing menus. There are music and drama activities, inter-College sporting events, Arts Week and Women’s Health Week. Willingness to participate is what it’s about!

The Women’s College is a home and a place of study, but it is also much more. College gives an enormous amount in terms of experience and personal development, and these activities provide an opportunity for you to give just a little in return.

Each year, 80-90 new undergraduates are accepted into the College. Most students stay until the completion of their degrees.

The College welcomes applications for residence from women students who are enrolled in full-time courses at the University of Sydney.

Places are offered for one year and continuation in residence is at the discretion of the Principal. Students must make satisfactory progress in their academic work while in residence.

Students are selected by the Principal on the basis of academic merit, commitment to studies, willingness to participate in College life and need for a place in College. Need is assessed in terms of distance from the University and the demands of your course. Another factor is the promotion of diversity within the College community.

A number of scholarships are available. They are awarded on the basis of academic merit and need.
