Archives & Publications

The College has extensive Archives recording its history and that of the development of women's education in Australia. A wonderful feel for the history of the College can be gained from the College photographs on display along Main and Menzies' corridors. Visitors are welcome at the College any time.

The College is indebted to Dr Rosemary Annable, its archivist for many years. She commenced work on compiling the Biographical Register in 1991 from College Roll Books and other information held in the Archives, supplemented by a questionnaire. Volume 1 1892 - 1939 was published in 1995 and provides a Brief History of the Women's College 1887-1939, The College Council, College Staff and a Biographical Register of College students, in those years. Volume 2 of the Register, covering the turbulent World War II and post-war years 1940-57, was launched in May 2005. A third volume covering the years 1958-68 was launched in July 2007.

The College library has a large Women's Collection. This was extended in 1998 by Professor Dale Spender's generous donation of her non-fiction collection.
