The Women's College is proud of its tradition of academic excellence, and of the high levels of achievement of its alumni in diverse fields. Students are encouraged and challenged to maximise their academic potential through tutorials and other academic support. More than a third of our students achieve Distinction averages in their University results.
At Women's College you will meet students from a range of faculties, interests and future careers. In 2010, 52% of students are studying in the humanities including Arts, Law, Commerce, Economics, Liberal Studies, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Communications, Music, Fine Arts and Design.
48% are in the sciences, including Health Sciences, such as Physio, Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy, Science, Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Science, Nursing, Architecture and Dentistry.
Each week throughout both semesters the College runs tutorials in more than thirty subjects, spanning the full range of academic disciplines. Most tutors are postgraduates or University staff with expertise in their fields and proven teaching skills.
Academic advisers are postgrads and senior undergraduates who volunteer their time to mentor the younger students at College studying in their discipline. They meet with the students informally and give advice and encouragement as well as excellent academic support.
Students who are interested in developing their leadership skills have the opportunity to participate in a structured in-house leadership program designed to enhance individual strengths and build on confidence so students feel equipped to take on a College leadership role either on House Committee or as a Resident Assistant.
